Women's Basketball Looks to Go 3-0 in NEC Against Sacred Heart Friday

The Fairleigh Dickinson women's basketball team (9-4, 2-0 NEC) will be looking to continue its win streak as they host the Pioneers of Sacred Heart University on Friday, January 7.  Tip-off for the Northeast Conference match-up at Stratis Arena is slated for 7:00 pm. 

The Knights are coming off of a 20-point win over NJIT, Monday January 3.  The win over the Highlanders extended the Knights' win-streak to six games.  Junior Mariyah Laury (Orange, NJ/Orange) led the team with 15 points, five rebounds and three assists.  Junior Jasmyra Saunders (Trenton, NJ/Trenton Catholic) added 12 points for the Knights with five assists, while junior Esther Wallace (Springfield, MA/Springfield Central) tied a career-high with 10 rebounds and nine points. 

Sacred Heart comes into the game with an 8-5 record on the season.  The Pioneers are 2-0 in the NEC after defeating Mount St. Mary's and Wagner.  SHU is led by junior forward Callan Taylor who is currently averaging 15.5 points per game and 6.7 rebounds per game.     

This will be the 20th meeting of FDU and Sacred Heart since 1997. The Pioneers hold the advantage in the series with 18 wins and just one loss. FDU last defeated SHU on January 31, 2002.


After hosting Sacred Heart the Knights will continue conference play with a home contest against Quinnipiac on Monday, January 10.  Tip-off at Stratis Arena is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
