Men's Basketball Looks to Rebound at CCSU on Saturday

The Fairleigh Dickinson men's basketball team (4-13, 2-5 NEC) looks to get back into the win column as they travel to New Britain, CT to take on Central Connecticut at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 22, in Detrick Gymnasium.  The Knights defeated the Blue Devils on Dec. 4 at home, 48-46, after rallying from a 12 point halftime deficit.  The game will be broadcast on the radio on WFDU 89.1 FM.

 

FDU is coming off a heartbreaking loss Thursday night at Bryant, 74-71, in Smithfield, RI.  The Bulldogs canned a three-pointer with 2.4 seconds remaining to put the dagger in the Knights.  Senior Mike Scott (Philadelphia, PA/Texas Christian) led the Knights with 20 points and a game-high seven assists.  Senior Kamil Svrdlik (Prerov, Czech Republic/Gymnazium Zlin) added 17 points and a game-high six rebounds, while senior John Galvin (Weston, CT/Weston) scored a season-high 12 points and also had six rebounds.  Senior Terence Grier (Cranford, NJ/St. Thomas More Prep) dished out a career-high six assists.

The Blue Devils are 11-7 (4-3 NEC) on the season after winning at Monmouth Thursday night, 66-47.  Ken Horton led the way with 28 points and 14 rebounds.

After playing CCSU, the Knights will return home for three-straight games at Stratis Arena in Hackensack.  First off is Long Island on Thursday, Jan. 27, at 7:00 p.m.

The Series Versus Central Connecticut State: The Knights are meeting CCSU for the 31st time, holding 17-13 lead in the series.  Each team won on its home floor last season, with the Knights winning in Hackensack, 83-74, and the Blue Devils winning in New Britain, 77-67.  FDU is 7-7 in games played at Detrick Gymnasium and have lost four of its last five at CCSU.
