The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's volleyball team (2-6) dropped a pair of decisions to conclude the Army Tournament on Saturday afternoon.
In their first match this morning, the Knights were defeated by Lafayette, 3-0. The Leopards won game one, 25-22, game two, 25-20, and game three, 25-16.
Junior Sarah Willey (Abingdon, MD/Bel Air) led the Knights with 19 assists and two service aces. Defensively, junior Kelsey Semler (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) had 13 digs to lead the squad. Senior Sarah Berkland (Newton, MA/Newton North) had eight kills to lead the offense.
In game two, Princeton defeated the Knights, 3-1. The Tigers squeaked out game one, 25-23, before the Knights bounced back in game two to win a thrilling 27-25 game. However, Princeton was able to win the next two games by scores of 25-22 and 25-10 to clinch the match.
Senior Erin Roudebush (Westfield, NJ/Westfield) and Berkland led the offense with 14 and 13 kills, respectively. Junior Meghan contributed a career-high six service aces, while sophomore Meaghan Wheeler (Chatsworth, CA/Chaminade College Prep) added four service aces. Willey dished out 37 assists, while Wheeler posted a career-high 32 digs on defense. Semler added 18 digs for the Knights
Fairleigh Dickinson returns to action on Wednesday, September 8, at 7:00 p.m. as they take on Saint Peter's in Jersey City in a non-conference tilt.
