Women's Volleyball Falls to Columbia, Fordham at Columbia Tournament

The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's volleyball team wrapped up competition at the Columbia Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 18. The Knights fell in three sets to Fordham and host Columbia.

Columbia defeated FDU, 25-18, 25-13 and 25-14. Against the Lions, Meaghan Wheeler (Chatsworth, CA/Chaminade College Prep) led the Knights with 11 kills, while Violeta Slabakova (Shelby Township, Mich./Utica) with five kills. Sarah Willey (Abingdon, MD/Bel Air) had 20 assists. Wheeler led the squad with 12 digs and Kelsey Semler (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) added 10. Slabakova had a team-high two blocks.

Fordham defeated the Knights 25-18, 25-21 and 34-32. Versus the Rams, Wheeler led the team with 12 kills and Slabakova recorded seven. Willey dished out 27 assists and Slabakova notched four aces. Amanda Alayon (West Haverstraw, NY/North Rockland), Willey and Semler each added eight digs. Sarah Berkland (Newton, MA/Newton North) added four blocks.

Wheeler was named to the All-Tournament team for her performance over the weekend.
