The Fairleigh Dickinson University men's soccer team fell to host St. John's, 5-0, on Friday evening in Jamaica, NY.
The Knights fell behind, 3-0, after the first 45 minutes and allowed the Red Storm to score twice in the second half.
In the 14th minute, Adam Himeno took a feed from Tadeu Terra to start the SJU offense. Eight minutes later, Terra scored on a penalty kick. In the 44th minute, Terra found Dom Sarle to give St. John's the 3-0 lead.
There was an own goal int eh 60th minute, followed by a header by Pablo Battuto Punyed six seconds later to make the final 5-0.
FDU was out-shot, 13-5, and the Red Storm held a 7-2 edge in corner kicks. Each team had three saves.
"They were simply too good for us tonight," said Head Coach Seth Roland. "We are not fit enough yet to be able to contend with St. John's overwhelming style of play. We hope to be a lot further along a month from now."
The Knights are back in action at Seton Hall on Sunday, Sept. 12 at 7:00 p.m
