The Fairleigh Dickinson University softball team fell in a doubleheader at Fordham, 5-1 and 8-0 on Wednesday afternoon. The Knights fall to 11-23 on the season, while the Rams improve to 32-8.
Fordham scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning, adding one run in the third inning and one in the fourth for a 5-0 lead. The Knights scored in the top of the sixth inning to get on the board, but it wasn't enough as FDU fell, 5-1. Kirsten Shreve (Kent, WA/Kentwood) started the Knights' offense with a double to center field to lead off the inning. Kristen Kinneer (Pottstown, PA/St. Peter's) drew a walk, Caitlin Bradac (Garden Grove, CA/Garden Grove) walked and Alex Schubert's sacrifice fly to center field pushed Shreve across the plate.
The Knights scored one earned run on five hits.
In the second game, Fairleigh Dickinson lost, 8-0, in six innings. The Knights collected five hits, including a 3-for-3 performance from Kinneer. Fordham put a run on the board in the second and third innings and then had three-run fifth and sixth innings to end the game.
