The Fairleigh Dickinson women's basketball team (5-4, 1-0 NEC) will be looking to continue its win streak as they travel to nearby Jersey City, NJ on Sunday, December 12 to take on St. Peter's College. Tip-off at Yanitelli Center is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
The Knights are coming off a 58-48 win over conference foe Bryant. Senior Alyssa Mayrose (Freehold, NJ/Freehold) helped lead FDU with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while junior Mariyah Laury (Orange, NJ/Orange) added 18 points and 10 assists.
St. Peter's comes into the game with seven losses and no wins this season. The Peahens have fallen to Sacred Heart, Hofstra, Monmouth, Albany, Toledo, Fordham and Lehigh.
This will be the 18th meeting of the Knights and Peahens since 1978. Before last season, the Peahens had defeated FDU in each meeting. The Knights took their first W in the all-time series with a 63-46 defeat over the Peahens one year ago to the day, on December 12, 2009.
Mayrose led the team with 20 points in the win, while Jordan Sykes (Avalon, NJ/Holy Spirit) added 15 and Laury tallied 13. Sykes will support the team from the sideline with an injury this time around but Mayrose, Laury and the rest of the Knights will look to take their second victory over St. Peter's.
After playing St. Peter's, the Knights will take a ten-day break before hosting conference opponent, Central Connecticut State University on Wednesday, December 22, at 7:00 pm.
The game will be broadcast on WFDU 89.1 FM. You can listen live or follow the game on twitter at http://twitter.com/FDUKnights.
