The Fairleigh Dickinson women's volleyball team was defeated in its final match of the 2010 campaign Sunday afternoon by Saint Francis (PA), 3-1, in Loretto, PA. The Red Flash won games one and two by identical 25-21 scores before the Knights won game three by the same score. However, the home team rebounded in game four and easily defeated the Knights, 25-12, t o clinch the match. The loss officially eliminated the Knights from NEC playoff contention. With the victory, the Red Flash end the season with a record of 9-20 (7-9 NEC), while the Knights finish the season with a record of 11-21 (6-10 NEC) overall.
Playing in her final match, senior Sarah Berkland (Newton, MA/Newton North) led the Knights with 12 kills and an attack percentage of .500. She also led the team with two block-assists.
Sophomore Meaghan Wheeler (Chatsworth, CA/Chaminade College Prep) added 10 kills and led the Knights with 16 digs, giving her 18 double-doubles on the season. She also led the squad with two service aces.
Junior Sarah Willey (Abingdon, MD/Bel Air) dished out 32 assists to lead the Knights.
The Knights lose Berkland, Amanda Alayon (West Haverstraw, NY/North Rockland) and Erin Roudebush (Westfield, NJ/Westfield) to graduation. Eight players return for the 2011 season.
