Women's Volleyball Loses Five-Game Match at Quinnipiac, 3-2

The Fairleigh Dickinson women's volleyball team suffered its third-straight loss Sunday afternoon as they were defeated by Quinnipiac, 3-2, in a Northeast Conference road match played in Hamden, CT.  The Bobcats were able to avenge an earlier defeat this month by the Knights, which also went five games.  Quinnipiac won the first two games by scores of 30-28 and 25-20.  However, the Knights rallied in games three and four as they won by scores of 25-22 and 25-16.  In the deciding game five, the Bobcats were able to stop the Knights' momentum and squeaked out a 15-13 victory to take the match.  With the victory, the Bobcats improve to 6-17 (4-5 NEC) on the season, while the Knights fall to 9-16 (4-5 NEC) overall.

Three Knights recorded double-figures in kills.  Sophomore Meaghan Wheeler (Chatsworth, CA/Chaminade College Prep) led the way with 21 kills, while sophomore Violeta Slabakova (Shelby Township, Mich./Utica) and senior Sarah Berkland (Newton, MA/Newton North) added 11 and 10 kills, respectively.

Junior Sarah Willey (Abingdon, MD/Bel Air) dished out 49 assists to setup a season-high 60 team kills by the Knights.  The Knights recorded 57 assists as a team, which is also a season high.

Defensively, junior Kelsey Semler (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) led five Knights who recorded double-figures in digs as she registered 36, three short of her career and season high.  Senior Amanda Alayon (West Haverstraw, NY/North Rockland) established a new career high with 19 digs.  Wheeler recorded 16 digs to give her 13 double-doubles on the season.  Freshman Taylor Roland-Buohl (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) added a career-high 14 digs, while Willey added 10 digs to give her nine double-doubles on the season.  The Knights recorded a season-high 106 digs as a team.

Junior Meghan Alger (Cheltenham, MD/Bishop McNamara) recorded a season-high six block-assists, and Slabakova tied a season-high with five.

The Knights return to action on Wednesday, October 27, as they step out of conference play to take on Manhattan at 7:00 p.m. in a non-conference tilt.  The match will be the first of four-straight home matches for the Knights as the last one will conclude the Knights' home schedule.
