The Fairleigh Dickinson women's volleyball team dropped a Northeast Conference home match Saturday afternoon to first-place Sacred Heart, 3-0, at Stratis Arena in the Rothman Center. The visitors won by scores of 25-15, 25-20 and 25-23. With the victory, the Pioneers improve to 20-4 (9-0 NEC), while the Knights fall to 9-15 (4-5 NEC) overall.
Sophomore Violeta Slabakova (Shelby Township, Mich./Utica) (Shelby Township, MI/Utica) led the Knights with 11 kills. Fellow classmate Meaghan Wheeler (Chatsworth, CA/Chaminade College Prep) (Chatsworth, CA/Chaminade College Prep) added nine.
Junior Sarah Willey (Abingdon, MD/Bel Air) (Abingdon, MD/Bel Air) dished out 29 assists, while junior Kelsey Semler (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) led the squad with eight digs.
The Knights return to action on Sunday, October 24, as they travel to Hamden, CT to take on Quinnipiac in a Northeast Conference match. First-serve is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
