The Fairleigh
Dickinson University women's volleyball fell to Saint Francis (PA), 3-2, in
loss fought battle on Sunday afternoon at Stratis Arena in the Rothman
Center. The Red Flash of SFPA took set
one (25-22) before the Knights battled back with wins in set two (25-19) and
three (25-22). Saint Francis went on to
take set four (25-22) and five (15-9) along with the match. With the victory, Saint Francis improves to
5-16 (3-5 NEC) overall, while FDU falls to 9-14 (4-4 NEC) on the season.
Sophomore Meaghan Wheeler (Chatsworth, CA/Chaminade College Prep) (Chatsworth, CA) added
another double-double to her season with 16 kills and 13 digs. She led the team in kills. Junior Sarah Willey (Abingdon, MD/Bel Air) (Abingdon, MD) led
the Knights with 38 assists and also added 5 digs.
Senior Sarah Berkland (Newton, MA/Newton North) (Newton, MA) amassed a
team-leading attack percentage of .391 and produced 12 kills. Violeta Slabakova (Shelby Township, Mich./Utica) (Shelby Township, MI) also had 12 kills.
Defensively, junior Kelsey Semler (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) (Allentown, PA) led
the squad with 31 digs. Amanda Alayon (West Haverstraw, NY/North Rockland)
(West
Haverstraw, NY) added 18.
The Knights recorded a total of 82 digs and 48 kills as a
team.
Fairleigh Dickinson returns to action Saturday, October 23
as they host Sacred Heart in an NEC match. First-serve at Stratis Arena
in Hackensack is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
