Men's Soccer, Falls to Cal State Fullerton 3-0, at Cal State Northridge Tournament

The Fairleigh Dickinson University men' soccer team fell to Cal State Fullerton, 3-0, on Sunday afternoon at hte Cal State Northridge Tournament, held Sept. 11-13.  The Knights fall to 2-2-0, while Cal State Fullerton improves to 3-1-0.

Fairleigh Dickinson held an edge in shots, 14-6, and corner kicks, 7-3.  Junior Majdi Zaineh (Clifton, NJ/Clifton) (Clifton, NJ) made two saves in the loss.

In the fourth minute, Celso Alvarez put Fullerton on the board as Johnathan Brit sent a cross 10-yards in front of the goal and Alvarez blasted it into the lower right hand corner.

Alvarez scored his second goal of the game in the 52nd minute on a breakaway shot off an assist from Michael Denny. Shay Spitz made the final 3-0 in favor of Cal State in the 74th minute off a feed from Jamall Farquharson.

"We had a difficult weekend playing against two very good California teams," said Head Coach Seth Roland. "We hope to take the lessons we learned from these two games and apply them to become a better team."

The Knights are back in action at the Princeton Tournament, Sept. 18-20.
