In the first match of the day, the Fairleigh Dickinson University women's volleyball team fell to host Binghamton, 3-1, at the Binghamton Tournament on Saturday. The Knights then fell in three games to Towson in the second match of the afternoon. The Knights fall to 3-9 on the season.
Binghamton jumped out to a 2-0 lead (25-13, 25-23), but the Knights fought back to take the third game (25-21). It wasn't enough, as Binghamton ended the match with a 25-15 win in the fourth game.
In the matchup against the Bearcats, freshman Violeta Slabakova (Shelby Township, MI) and senior Ali Philbrick (Lanham, MD) each had nine kills. Sophomore Sarah Willey (Abingdon, MD) dished out 28 assists and recorded three service aces, while Philbrick added 14 digs. Sophomore Kelsey Semler (Allentown, PA)added 12. Freshman Meaghan Wheeler (Chatsworth, CA) chipped in eight kills and Amanda Alayon added 10 digs.
Against Towson, the Knights fell in three games (25-22, 25-20, 25-23). Wheeler led the Knights with 12 kills and nine digs; Willey tallied 25 assists. Philbrick recorded five service aces.
For her performance in the tournament, Willey was named to the Binghamton All-Tournament team.
The Knights are back in action at the Columbia Tournament on Sept. 18-19.
