Softball Drops 9-6 Decision to UWGB Before Falling, 5-0, to Iona

The Fairleigh Dickinson University softball team fell to Wisconsin- Green Bay, 9-6, and Iona, 5-0, at the Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, FL on Monday evening. The Knights fall to 2-9 on the season.

Caitlin Bradac (Garden Grove, CA/Garden Grove)'s sacrifice fly in the first inning scored Brianne Benedict (Alliance, OH/West Branch), who led off with a double to center field. UWGB tied the game in the bottom of the inning, 1-1. Allaire Primiano (Tarrytown, NY/Sleepy Hollow) pushed the Knights up again in the third inning, scoring on an infield error.

FDU added to its lead in the fourth inning as Bradac sent one over the left field fence and Primiano plated two with a single to center field to give FDU the 5-3 advantage.

Fairleigh Dickinson added a run in the fifth, but six runs from Green Bay sealed the 9-6 win.

Meghan Doherty (Binghamton, NY/Binghamton) went 2-for-3, while Allaire Primiano (Tarrytown, NY/Sleepy Hollow) was 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Iona started the scoring in the second inning, adding three runs in the sixth and one in the seventh for the 5-0 victory. Bradac pitched seven innings, scattering eight hits, allowing one earned run, walking one and striking out four. Benedict and Bradac each went 1-for-3 and Trina Fields (Norridge, IL/Ridgewood) was 1-for-2.

"Caitlin pitched very well," said Head Coach Dale Martin. "We just had a lot of mistakes behind her. Against Wisconsin, we gave up a big inning again. We have to continue to work on being focused and improve our play. We are still trying to work on cutting back on our mistakes and we will continue to remain mentally tough and make sure that we are always fighting."
