The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's volleyball team fell in three games at Long Island on Saturday afternoon.
The Knights (3-15, 0-2 NEC) fell in a close first set, 25-20. The Blackbirds (7-12, 4-0 NEC) took the second game in a narrow 26-24 margin. Long Island won the third set for the match, 25-16.
Freshman Meaghan Wheeler (Chatsworth, CA/Chaminade College Prep) led the team with 14 kills, while freshman Violeta Slabakova (Shelby Township, Mich./Utica) added 11 and senior Ali Philbrick (/Elizabeth Seton) had 10 kills. Sophomore Sarah Willey (Abingdon, MD/Bel Air) dished out 31 assists and classmate Kelsey Semler (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) posted a team-high 13 digs.
The Knights are back in action on Sunday, October 11 at St. Francis NY at 1:00 p.m.
