The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's volleyball team edged Delaware State University, 3-2, Friday, Sept. 5 on a neutral court in Easton, PA. Senior middle blocker Lauren Boothby (/Voorhees) led the Knights to a 3-3 mark on the season, courtesy of a 25-kill, 14-dig double-double.
FDU took the first two games by a counts of 25-18. However, the Hornets scrapped back to earn a pair of 25-21 victories. The Knights hit a team clip of .316 in the fifth set to clinch the match, 15-9.
Boothby ? who also contributed three service aces ? finished with a match-and-season-high kill total, while senior outside hitter Megan Philbrick (/Elizabeth Seton)'s .324 attack percentage (15 kills) proved a match-best.
Senior setter Karolina Kowalski (/North Arlington) went for 26 assists and seven digs. Freshman counterpart Sarah Willey (Abingdon, MD/Bel Air) tallied 16 assists and five digs.
Junior outside hitter Ali Philbrick (/Elizabeth Seton) registered eight digs. Freshman middle blocker Meghan Alger (Cheltenham, MD/Bishop McNamara) added four block assists, with freshman libero Kelsey Semler (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) recording 12 digs.
Fairleigh Dickinson contests a pair of matches at the Lafayette College Tournament, Saturday, Sept. 6. At noon, they take on Saint Peter's College, followed by a 4:00 p.m. clash with the host Leopards.
