Three different players scored for the Fairleigh Dickinson men's soccer team on Saturday evening to lead the Knights past host Lehigh. The Knights improve to 4-2, while the Mountain Hawks fall to 3-3-1.
An unassisted goal from Christian Vasconez (Quito, Ecuador/Dickinson) early in the game (1:53) put the Knights up, 1-0. But Matthew McNeil scored an unassisted goal five minutes later to knot the score.
A goal from Paul King (New Castle, England/Monkseaton) put the Knights ahead in the 31st minute on a free kick from the right, 25 yards out. Samson Malijani (Lusaka, Zambia, /La Sapienza) found the back of the net on what would become the game-winner in the 80th minute off a corner kick.
McNeil scored once more for Lehigh six minutes later, but the Knights were able to hold on for the 3-2 victory.
Juho Illi (Nastola, Finland/) made eight saves in goal for the Knights. FDU was out-shot, 21-9, and Lehigh held the advantage in corner kicks, 10-5. Jonathan Nydell made no saves in goal for the Mountain Hawks.
