run in the top of the seventh gave the Leopards a 5-3 edge and Ruckno tacked on
another run with a home run just inside the foul pole to make the final 6-3.
Ashley Buchanan (West Windsor, NY/West Windsor) (West Windsor, NY),
on the mound for the Knights, scattered only five innings through 6.2 innings.
She allowed three earned runs and struck out two while giving up no walks.
Keltos finished the game 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored. Each team had seven hits.
“We were in the game and we had
our moments to win it,” said Head Coach Dale Martin. “What we have to continue
to do is play with more intensity and more heart.”
“We just need people to continue
to take turns stepping up,” said Martin. “That will be crucial in getting those
key hits and making big plays. It's about maintaining belief that we are still
in this- we are competitive, but we need to push ourselves to get over the
hump.”
The Knights will host Sacred
Heart in a doubleheader on Saturday, April 12 at 1:00 p.m.
