The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's volleyball team's season came to a close, Saturday, Nov. 22 after losing, 3-0, to Saint Francis University (PA) in the Northeast Conference Tournament quarterfinals. Seniors Lauren Boothby (/Voorhees) (Glen Gardner, NJ) and Karolina Kowalski (/North Arlington) (North Arlington, NJ) notched team-high totals of 10 kills and 21 assists, respectively.
Fifth-seeded FDU (17-14) dropped counts of 25-23, 25-13, 25-20 to the Red Flash (12-19). The match was contested on a neutral court in Moon Township, PA.
Boothby also added eight digs, while hitting .259. Kowalski chipped-in six digs. Meanwhile, senior outside hitter Megan Philbrick (/Elizabeth Seton) (Seabrook, MD) accrued six kills in her final collegiate game.
Freshman setter Kelsey Semler (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) (Allentown, PA) went for nine digs, with junior outside hitter Ali Philbrick (/Elizabeth Seton) (Lanham, MD) producing five digs.
A pair of Saint Francis student-athletes registered a double-digit kill totals. The Red Flash move on to face the bracket's top seed, Robert Morris University, at 4:00 p.m. later today.
The Knights return seven latter winners for the 2009 campaign, but lose five seniors.
