Women's Volleyball Storms Back to Avenge Mid-Season Loss to NJIT with Win Wednesday

The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's volleyball team battled back for a 3-2 victory on the campus of the New Jersey Institute of Technology, Wednesday, Nov. 12 in Newark, NJ.  Junior outside hitter Ali Philbrick (/Elizabeth Seton) and senior middle hitter Lauren Boothby (/Voorhees) notched double-doubles for the Knights (15-13).

 

After dropping a 25-21 decision in the first set, FDU grabbed a 25-18 win in the second game to knot things, 1-1.  The squads exchanged 25-22 scores, with NJIT (17-13) set to seal the match after three sets.  However, Head Coach Stacey Recanati's squad mashed a .333 team attack percentage in the deciding set, en route to a 15-11 count.

 

Ali Philbrick (/Elizabeth Seton) went for a pair of season-bests, accruing 14 kills and 21 digs.  Boothby registered her third-consecutive double-double ? and eighth in the last 10 matches ? en route to tallying a match-high 20 kills and 14 digs.  The Northeast Conference's leader in kills per game (4.3) also contributed five block assists.

 

Senior outside hitter Megan Philbrick (/Elizabeth Seton) slammed 12 kills, with classmate Karolina Kowalski (/North Arlington), a setter, adding a team-leading 34 assists.  Senior libero Jennifer Brugger (/Centreville) matched her season-best effort of 15 digs, with freshman libero Kelsey Semler (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) also recording 15 digs.

 

The Knights travel to Staten Island, NY at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 15 to take on Wagner College.
