Women's Volleyball Splits Action at UMBC Tri-Match

The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's volleyball team halved a pair of matches, Saturday, Sept. 22 on the campus of University of Maryland ? Baltimore County.  In the Knights' (8-8) morning match, the home-standing Retrievers (11-3) won in three-straight games.  A few hours later, FDU rebounded for a 3-0 victory over Morgan State University (0-11).

 

Despite 13 kills by senior middle blocker Rebecca Tenney (/Tabb) (Yorktown, VA), FDU fell to UMBC, 30-18, 30-26, and 30-18.  Junior setter Karolina Kowalski (/North Arlington) (North Arlington, NJ) registered 18 assists, eight kills and five digs.

 

Senior setter Ruth Levy (/Cary) (Cary, NC) finished with 15 assists and eight digs.

 

The Knights took the second match of the day, 30-19, 30-26, and 30-23.  Once again, Tenney recorded a team-best kills total (15), en route to a .560 hitting percentage.  Kowalski added a double-double of 16 digs and 12 assists.

 

Levy distributed 32 assists, while junior outside hitter Megan Philbrick (/Elizabeth Seton) (Seabrook, MD) and sophomore outside hitter Ali Philbrick (/Elizabeth Seton) (Latham, MD) had 10 kills a piece.  Megan hit .533, and Ali, .471

 

Fairleigh Dickinson visits the New Jersey Institute of Technology, Wednesday, Sept. 26 at 7:00 p.m.
