Women's Volleyball Clipped by Central Connecticut, 3-1

The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's volleyball team suffered their first setback of the season, 3-1, at the hands of Central Connecticut State University, Saturday, Sept. 1 in the second match of the University of Hartford New Balance Invitational in West Hartford, CT.  Junior middle blocker Lauren Boothby (/Voorhees) (Glen Gardner, NJ) amassed 16 kills, seven digs, five blocks and four service aces, as the Knights slipped to 2-1 in 2007.

 

Junior setter Karolina Kowalski (/North Arlington) (North Arlington, NJ) collected her second-straight double-double, notching 22 assists and 11 digs, as Fairleigh Dickinson was edged in the first two games, 31-29 and 32-30.  The Knights battled back to take game three, 30-28, but fell 30-21 in the fourth.  CCSU moved to 3-2 overall this year.

 

Senior middle blocker Rebecca Tenney (/Tabb) (Yorktown, VA) smacked a match-high 19 kills ? good for a .302 attack percentage.  Junior outside hitter Megan Philbrick (/Elizabeth Seton) (Seabrook, MD) registered 10 kills, with freshman outside hitter Erin Roudebush (Westfield, NJ/Westfield) (Westfield, NJ) adding seven kills.

 

Senior libero Lauren Lombardo (/Laurel) (Laurel, PA) contributed 15 digs, while sophomore outside hitter Ali Philbrick (/Elizabeth Seton) (Latham, MD) recorded 14 digs and five blocks.  Senior setter Ruth Levy (/Cary) (Cary, NC) finished with a team-high 25 assists.

 

FDU takes on University of Rhode Island at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 1 in their final match of the tournament.
