The Fairleigh Dickinson University softball team was swept in a doubleheader by host Robert Morris, 4-0 and 13-3, in Moon Township, PA on Tuesday, April 2.
In the first game, Ali Keltos (Shelton, CT/Lauralton Hall) and Hope Hilman (Bremerton, WA/Olympic) were each 1-for-3. Ashley Buchanan (West Windsor, NY/West Windsor) pitched six innings, striking out four.
Robert Morris put up a three-run first inning to take the lead. The Colonials tacked on one more run in the fourth inning for the 4-0 victory.
In the second game, Dana Myers (Levittown, PA/Harry S. Truman) was 3-for-3 with two runs scored. Both Hilman and Caitlyn Reuter (Richwood, NJ/Clearview Regional) went 2-for-3 and Hilman and Lindsay Glidden each knocked in a run. Trina Fields pitched 4.2 innings, striking out two.
FDU struck first in the nightcap, putting up a run in the top of the first inning as Myers doubled to get on base and scored on an error. The Colonials were able to record a seven-inning second for a 7-1 advantage in the game.
The Knights tacked on a pair in the top of the third, as Myers singled and scored on a Hilman single. Glidden singled to plate Keltos, who reached on a fielding error. But Robert Morris responded with a run in the bottom half and five more runs in the fifth for the 13-3 win.
