Baseball Falls Twice at Longwood

The Fairleigh Dickinson University baseball dropped both games of a twin bill at Longwood University, Sunday, March 18 in Farmville, VA. The Knights (4-7) dropped game one, 12-7, and fell, 3-2, in the nightcap, despite junior left-hander John O'Hara (Staten Island, NY/St. Peter's)'s (Staten Island, NY) strong effort on the bump.

In the opener, FDU registered two runs off a pair of Lancers' (17-6) errors in the top of the first inning; however, Longwood plated six unanswered runs.

Senior outfielder Vincente-Alexander Medina (North Bergen, NJ/Paramus Catholic) (North Bergen, NJ) doubled to right-center field in the sixth, scoring sophomore infielder Zachary Sand (San Diego, CA/Mission Bay) (San Diego, CA).

Sophomore infielder Jeff Vincent (Murrysville, PA/Franklin Regional) (Belmar, PA) sparked a four run outburst in the seventh frame, singling to start the inning. Junior outfielder John Paganotti (Staten Island, NY/St. Joseph By The Sea) (Staten Island, NY) singled to right, bringing around Vincent, before Medina tanked a three-run home run over the left-center field fence.

Senior right-hander Stephen Eng (Fresh Meadows, NY/St. Francis Prep) (Fresh Meadows, NY) suffered his second loss of the season, yielding six earned runs over five innings.

Medina (four RBI), Paganotti and Vincent all recorded multi-hit efforts.

In game two, O'Hara fanned seven in his third start of the season, hurling 6.2 innings. In the bottom of the seventh, LU outfielder Chris Ames hit a two-out, two RBI single down the left field line to secure the two-game sweep and hand FDU's southpaw his first loss of the year.

Once again, Fairleigh Dickinson jumped out to a 2-0 advantage, as Vincent poked a base knock down the right field line in the second inning, scoring Medina and junior infielder Luis Rosario (Bronx, NY/James Monroe) (Bronx, NY) who singled earlier in the frame.

The Knights travel to Dover, DE to take on Delaware State University in a doubleheader, Saturday, March 24. First pitch is slated for 12:00 p.m.
