The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision versus Northeast Conference leader Long Island University, Saturday, Oct. 27 at the Rothman Center in Hackensack, NJ. The Knights slipped to 11-13 overall and 2-2 in the NEC, while the Blackbirds improved to 14-11 and 4-0 in league play.
FDU lost 30-17 in the first and third games, in addition to a 30-23 margin in the middle.
Junior middle blocker Lauren Boothby (/Voorhees) (Glen Gardner, NJ/Voorhees) recorded seven kills. Junior outside hitter Megan Philbrick (/Elizabeth Seton) (Seabrook, MD/Elizabeth Seton) finished with six kills, with sophomore Ali Philbrick (/Elizabeth Seton) (Latham, MD/Elizabeth Seton) adding five kills.
Senior setter Ruth Levy (/Cary) (Cary, NC/Cary) registered 13 assists, while junior setter Karolina Kowalski (/North Arlington) (North Arlington, NJ/North Arlington) notched the identical total. Levy had nine digs, complemented by Kowalski's eight digs.
LIU junior middle blocker Martina Racic (Pula, Croatia/School of Arts) tallied a team-high 14 kills, hitting .409. Senior middle blocker Shelby Heggie (Laramie, WY/Northeastern J.C.) paced the Blackbirds with a .529 clip, including 11 kills.
