The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's volleyball team was upset by Rider University, 3-2, Wednesday, Oct. 24 in Lawrenceville, NJ. The Knights moved to 11-12 overall, despite junior middle blocker Lauren Boothby (/Voorhees) (Glen Gardner, NJ) supplying 22 kills, 13 digs and six blocks.
FDU took game one, 30-21, but dropped the ensuing two games, 30-28 and 31-29. The Knights bounced back in game four, earning a 30-24 victory, but again fell via a two-point decision in the final game 16-14.
Fairleigh Dickinson's two setters Ruth Levy (/Cary) (Cary, NC) and junior Karolina Kowalski (/North Arlington) (North Arlington, NJ) tallied double-doubles. FDU's senior provided 22 assists and 11 digs, while Kowalski finished with 31 assists and 15 digs.
Junior Megan Philbrick (/Elizabeth Seton) (Seabrook, MD) led the squad with a .294 attack percentage, en route to 14 kills. Senior Rebecca Tenney (/Tabb) (Yorktown, VA) added 15 kills and six digs.
Senior libero Lauren Lombardo (/Laurel) (New Castle, PA) recorded 17 digs. Sophomore Ali Philbrick (/Elizabeth Seton) (Latham, MD) notched eight kills and eight digs.
A trio Broncs (2-20) countered with double-doubles.
The Knights host Northeast Conference opponent Long Island University at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 27 at the Rothman Center in Hackensack, NJ.
