Junior Pat Healey scored the game's only goal in the 25th on a penalty kick to lead Towson University (4-1-1) to a 1-0 upset victory over 17th-ranked Fairleigh Dickinson University (3-2-2) in a game played at Homewood Field on the campus of Johns Hopkins University on Saturday night. The game was originally scheduled to be played at the Tigers' Towson Center Field on Saturday afternoon but was postponed and moved to Hopkins due to water on the Tigers' home field.
The Tigers took advantage of a break in the 25th minute as Healey converted the penalty kick to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead that they protected the rest of the way.
Senior goalkeeper Tomer Chencinski (Toronto, Canada, /Chapel School) (Toronto, Ontario, Canada) made eight saves for the Knights, who allowed only two goals in six games this season.
“Tomer played a great game for us and gave us the opportunity to be able to tie Towson, but we just couldn't find a goal tonight," said Head Coach Seth Roland. "I give Towson a lot of credit. They played with a great deal of energy and commitment."
Junior goalkeeper Billy Chiles made six saves for the Tigers as he recorded his first shutout of the season. The Tigers, who outshot FDU by a 15-10 margin, posted their fourth shutout of the season.
The Knights are back in action on Wednesday, Sept. 20 when they host Yale University at 4:00 p.m.
