Fairleigh Dickinson Men?s Soccer Blanks Stony Brook, 3-0

Freshman Jorge Blacido (Ramsey, NJ/Rider) (Ramsey, NJ) notched his first career goal as a Knight and sophomore Alejandro Bedoya (Weston, FL/ASES Group) (Weston, FL) recorded five points as the Fairleigh Dickinson University men's soccer team (1-1-0) shutout visiting Stony Brook (0-1-0), 3-0, on Monday evening at University Stadium.

In the 41st minute of an overcast and humid game, freshman Chris Wymer (Dallas, TX/) (Dallas, TX) found Bedoya on a breakaway. Bedoya fed Blacido, who blasted the ball into the right corner for what would become the game-winner.

Bedoya insured the win in the second half with a pair of unassisted goals. His first came in the 62nd minute, when he went one-on-one with the goalkeeper. Bedoya found the back of the net past the goalkeeper, who dove to try and clear out the shot.

With only 12 minutes left to play, Bedoya dribbled down and chipped in a shot to make it a 3-0 lead for the Knights. The Knights now have a 5-0-0 all-time record against the Seawolves.

“I thought we played much better today, and we competed much better today,” said Head Coach Seth Roland.

The Knights held a 14-8 advantage in shots. Senior Elvir Prasovic (Astoria, NY/Newcomers) (Astoria, NY) played all 90 minutes between the posts for the Knights, making three saves. EJ Xikis (Wanagh, NY) was in goal for the Seawolves, making five saves.

Fairleigh Dickinson returns to action at the Creighton Tournament, where the Knights will face host Creighton on Friday, Sept. 1 and Missouri State on Sunday, Sept. 3.
