The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's volleyball team dropped a back-and-forth match to visiting Manhattan College, 3-2, Wednesday, Oct. 4 at the Rothman Center in Hackensack, NJ. Sophomore middle blocker Lauren Boothby (/Voorhees) (Glen Gardner, NJ/Voorhees) slammed a season-high 22 kills for a .341 hitting percentage to pace the Knights (10-7) offensively.
Outside hitter Candice Watson countered Boothby's performance with a double-double of 20 kills and 13 digs to lead the Jaspers (6-11). Outside hitter Sherryta Stokes (Beltsville, MD/Springbrook/St. John's) chipped in 14 kills and 14 digs.
FDU won the first game, 30-27, but dropped game two, 30-23. The Knights responded with a 30-27 win in game three, but lost the final two games, 30-25 and 15-12.
Fairleigh Dickinson's setters both recorded double-doubles, as junior setter Ruth Levy (/Cary) (Cary, NC/Cary) had 36 assists and 11 digs, with sophomore Karolina Kowalski (/North Arlington) (North Arlington, NJ/North Arlington) adding 18 assists and 15 digs.
Sophomore outside hitter Megan Philbrick (/Elizabeth Seton) (Seabrook, MD/Elizabeth Seton) and junior middle blocker Rebecca Tenney (/Tabb) (Yorktown, VA/Tabb) both notched 12 kills.
Freshman outside hitter Ali Philbrick (/Elizabeth Seton) (Latham, MD/Elizabeth Seton) chipped in a team-high 15 digs. Sophomore outside hitter Jennifer Brugger (/Centreville) (Centreville, VA/Clifton) and junior libero Lauren Lombardo (/Laurel) (New Castle, PA/Laurel) tallied 12 and 11 digs, respectively.
The Knights host NJIT and Wagner in the FDU Tri-match, Saturday, Oct. 7. Fairleigh Dickinson takes on the Highlanders at 11 a.m., followed by the Seahawks at 3:00 p.m.
