Women's Volleyball Loses to CCSU, 3-1

The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's volleyball team lost to Central Connecticut State, 3-1, Sunday, Oct. 22 at the Rothman Center in Hackensack, NJ. Sophomore middle hitter Lauren Boothby (/Voorhees) (Glen Gardener, NJ/Voorhees) posted a game-high 21 kills ? good for a .364 hitting percentage ? and eight block assists to pace the Knights (14-10, 2-2 NEC).

 

Despite an 8-0 run by the home-standing squad, the Blue Devils (14-7, 3-1 NEC) edged FDU, 30-27 in the first game and jumped out to a 2-0 lead following a 30-25 in game two. The Knights rebounded to earn a 30-28 victory in game three, but fell, 30-17, in the fourth game.

 

Sophomore outside hitter Megan Philbrick (/Elizabeth Seton) (Seabrook, MD/Elizabeth Seton) tallied 12 kills, while freshman Ali Philbrick (/Elizabeth Seton) (Latham, MD/Elizabeth Seton) contributed a game-high 24 digs. Junior setter Ruth Levy (/Cary) (Cary, NC/Cary) had 22 assists and eight digs, with sophomore setter Karolina Kowalski (/North Arlington) (North Arlington, NJ/North Arlington) chipping in 20 assists and eight digs.

 

Three CCSU players collected double-doubles, led by outside hitter Amanda Olmstead's (Wilmington, DE/Padua Academy) 14 kills and 13 digs. Setter Brynn Good (Surrey, British Columbia/White Rock Christian) notched a game-high 39 assists and 13 digs and outside hitter Sara Grona recorded 10 kills and 11 digs (Porcupine Plain, Saskatchewan/Porcupine Plain).

 

The Knights travel to Fairfield, CT at noon, Saturday, Oct. 28 to take on Sacred Heart.
