Men's Soccer Defeats Quinnipiac, 2-1, in Double-Overtime to Keep Unbeaten Conference Streak Alive

Alejandro Bedoya (Weston, FL/ASES Group) scored with 1:19 remaining in the second overtime to give the Fairleigh Dickinson men's soccer team a 2-1 victory over Quinnipiac on Friday afternoon in Hamden, Conn. The Knights improve to 7-3-2 overall and 4-0-0 in conference play, while Quinnipiac drops to 0-8-4 overall and 0-2-3 in league action.

The Bobcats were the first to score as Francis Mavula sent a ball to Danilo Schiavon, who netted it into the lower right corner. With 1:30 remaining in regulation, Donny Mayard (/Leblanc) forced the game into overtime as he headed in a feed from Bedoya from 40 yards out.

Bedoya's game-winner came when he shot a ball from inside the 18 into the lower right net off a pass from Jorge Blacido (Ramsey, NJ/Rider).

The Knights out-shot the Bobcats, 20-11, and held a slight edge in corner kicks, 9-5. Elvir Prasovic (Astoria, NY/Newcomers) made four saves between the posts for the Knights.

"I thought we showed a lot of character today, in scoring the tying goal with a minute and half to go and then finding the winning goal with 1:19 to go in the second overtime," said Head Coach Seth Roland. "We kept battling to the end."

FDU is back in action at Central Connecticut State on Sunday, October 15 at 1:00 p.m.
