Fairleigh Dickinson University women's bowler Liat Vizenfield was named the Northeast Conference Bowler of the Week after a stellar performance at NEC Meet Three.
Vizenfeld helped the Knights make NEC history this past weekend. With the Israeli-born righty rarely leaving any pins standing, FDU won six of nine matches at the NEC Spring Meet to lock up the conference's regular season crown for a record third year in a row.
Setting up anchor Danielle McEwan out of the No. 4 hole, the second-year Knight failed to fill only four frames the entire weekend. Her rarely-seen .956 filled frames percentage was a huge factor in the 219.2 traditional game average she compiled over the course of the two-day meet, which consisted solely of traditional team play. She ended the meet by putting together back-to-back 257-pin performances, the second of which led FDU in its 1,011-885 victory over No. 10 Saint Francis University.
Vizenfeld opened the last of three NEC-sponsored regular season meets by firing a team-best 241 game as the Knights downed No. 9 Adelphi. She also reached or surpassed the 205-pin mark in victories over Garden State rivals Saint Peter's and Monmouth, as well as during wins over No. 11 Kutztown and No. 12 Sacred Heart. The 5-foot-3 Vizenfeld struck in 53 percent of her opportunities over the course of the nine-match meet. She cleaned up 90.2 percent of her spares, including a 2-for-4 clip converting splits.
