Reigning Northeast Conference Rookie and Player of the Year Arvis Berzins began the new season on the right foot with a win in the consolation final of the Farnsworth/Princeton Invitational this past weekend.
Berzins, the last remaining Knight in the competition, took down Wake Forest's Jonathan Ho to finish the opening competition with a 2-1 singles record.
Berzins picked up the first set, 6-3. He fell in the second, 4-6, before coming away with a 1-0(7) victory to secure the win.
For FDU's top singles player, his other win at the tournament came against Bucknell's Nick Bybel, 6-3, 6-0, in Saturday's consolation semifinal match.
