Junior Mark Hemy was undefeated in his three singles matches last week and the team followed suit. Manning the No. 4 singles slot for the surging Knights, Hemy posted a trio of straight-set triumphs that helped FDU pick up three team victories and extend the club’s win streak to five matches in a row. Two of the victories came against top-tier Northeast Conference competition. Hemy had a hand in a pair of 6-1 team wins over Sacred Heart and Quinnipiac, both of whom have been NEC Tournament finalists each of the past two seasons. The Briton, whose brother also competes for the Knights, topped Quinnipiac’s Corey Morgenstern in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4. Then, he made quick work of Sacred Heart’s Logan Mohring, 6-2, 6-2. Earlier in the week, Hemy notched a crucial team point in a 4-3 victory over Atlantic 10 member Fordham by besting the Rams’ Max Peara, 6-3, 6-4.
