Sophomore Jacob Lissek picks up Athlete of the Week honors after playing excellent between the pipes in the Knights' two matches in the Northeast Conference Tournament.
In Friday's semifinals, Lissek made three saves for FDU as the fourth-seeded Knights upset top-seeded Sacred Heart, 1-0, to advance to Sunday's championship match. The cleansheet was Lissek's sixth of the season which established a new career high.
In Sunday championship, Lissek made some unbelievable saves in net for FDU has he kept the team in the contest versus Monmouth. With the score tied at one late in the second half, Lissek saved the season for the Knights by making a fabulous save diving to his left on a shot that was headed towards the lower right-hand corner of the net.
Despite the Knights losing in the final seconds of the 120th minute of double overtime, Lissek was one of the main reasons the Knights made it as far as they did. He tied his career high with nine saves against the Hawks and finished his season with a record of 11-5-3.
