FDU sits atop the NEC standings heading into the holiday season, and junior Liat Vizenfeld, who has now won four Northeast Conference Bowler of the Week awards (in four chances this season), is a key reason why. The Knights' anchor bowler averaged a conference-best 23.29 pins per frame while spearheading the team's 6-2 showing at the second of three regular season NEC competitions.
Vizenfeld, who was a NTCA Second Team All-American as a sophomore, was sensational during the three baker matches the Knights contested on Dec. 7. The Israeli-born right-hander opened the weekend by throwing 10 consecutive strikes and finished with a 25.73 baker frame average.
Vizenfeld was effective against NEC foes in traditional team play as well. On her way to a 218.2 five-game traditional average, she hit the 235-pin mark three times. Her weekend high game of 246 came in a win over LIU Brooklyn. Vizenfeld filled 93.8 percent of frames bowled at the conference meet, which was hosted by Sacred Heart in Wallingford, Conn. She threw a team-high 71 strikes in 110 attempts for a rarely-seen .645 strike percentage.
