Senior goalkeeper Jacob Lissek backstopped the Knights to consecutive 1-0 victories over Drexel and Lehigh to start the season. He made five saves in each game, including four point-blank stops, and recorded the 22nd and 23rd shutouts of his career, with the former setting the program's all-time record. For his efforts, he was named the Northeast Conference Co-Player of the Week.
On the road against Drexel, which was picked to finsh second in the Colonial Athletic Association preseason poll, Lissek tamed the Dragons early on, stopping a shot on a breakaway in the 30th minute before diving to his right to save the rebound attempt.
Lissek continued to showcase his talents three days later at home against Lehigh. He made a point-blank save in the 85th minute and closed the door completely as time was expiring, diving to his left to take away a sure goal.
