Junior Mariana Juaristi claimed the Northeast Conference's individual crown after firing a 2-under-par 70 on Sunday, giving her a top score of 3-over-par 219 (71-78-70) at the Northeast Conference Championships.
Juaristi led the tournament all three days and shot under par in the first and final rounds. After shooting 1-under-par in the first round, she finished the second round 6-over-par 78 but still held a one-stroke advantage. Juaristi saved her best for last, putting together her best round of the year with the 2-under-par 70, which gave her the title by seven strokes over Anna Ausanio of Central Connecticut State.
She finished with five birdies on Sunday, matching her total from Friday. For the tournament, Juaristi finished with 11 birdies and 33 pars.
The Knights, who started the day in third place with a score of 636 (312-324), shot a 322 in the final round to finish with a 958, one stroke ahead of Sacred Heart, four strokes behind CCSU and 16 strokes behind LIU Brooklyn, who won its second straight conference title.
