Men's Basketball Attends "Championship Day" at the Boys and Girls Club

LODI, N.J. – The Fairleigh Dickinson men's basketball team traveled to the Boys and Girls Club of Lodi/Hackensack on Wednesday afternoon to attend "Championship Day."  The Knights brought their 2016 Northeast Conference Championship trophy and some candy to the club to celebrate with their loyal fans.

The Fairleigh Dickinson men's basketball program has a strong relationship with the Boys and Girls Club of Lodi/Hackensack, which has developed the last years under head coach Greg Herenda in conjunction with B&G executive director Joe Licata.

"We just wanted to share our championship with the boys and girls of the club and let them know that reaching your goals is indeed possible," head coach Greg Herenda said on Wednesday evening.  "It was great to see the kids touch the trophy, but more importantly to interact with our players. It's always great to visit the club, but today was especially great because we were able to celebrate our championship together."

The Knights visit the Boys and Girls Club throughout the year to volunteer with the local children that attend the club.  FDU student-athletes provide assistance in homework, arts and crafts, while also hosting basketball clinics at different times.

The members of the club are also frequent guests of FDU at home basketball games.  Sitting behind the FDU bench, cheering for the Knights and seeking autographs after the game.
