M. Basketball Signs Potts Jr. to National Letter of Intent

HACKENSACK, N.J. -- The Fairleigh Dickinson men's basketball program will add Earl Potts Jr. to its Class of 2018 recruiting class, Head Coach Greg Herenda announced Tuesday. Potts Jr is the fifth member of a class that already includes Devine EkeDarian Anderson, Terrell Baggley and Marques Townes.

"I am very excited about Earl joining our program," Herenda said. "Earl is a great fit for our style of basketball and for the great education that he will receive here at Fairleigh Dickinson."

Potts Jr. is a 6-6, 195-pound combo guard who just completed a year of prep school at Coastal Academy in Belmar, N.J. He was named to the 2014 National Prep School Invitational All-Tournament Team after constructing several nice games, including a 27-point, 11-rebound effort while averaging 20.0 points and 10.5 rebounds per game over two contests.

"Earl is not only an incredible athlete, but he is very skilled and will add another dimension to our front court," Herenda said. "We are really happy to receive his commitment."

Before playing at Coastal Academy, Potts Jr played four seasons at Archbishop Spalding High School in his hometown of Severn, Md. He averaged 17.8 points, 10.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 2.4 blocks per game during his senior season en route to being named the Capital Gazette Communications Boys Basketball Player of the Year, First Team All-County and First Team All-Baltimore Catholic League. Potts Jr. also led the No. 5 Cavaliers to a 22-12 record and appearances in the BCL title game, a third-place finish in the A Conference and a semifinals appearance in the A playoffs. He was also tabbed Second Team All-BCL as a junior after averaging 15.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per game while earning the Cokey Robertson Award for being the most improved player.

Potts Jr., who is ambidextrous, is projected to major in business at FDU.
