Sharlene Milwood-Lee, a 1994 graduate of the Metropolitan Campus, enters her 21st season with the Knights and 17th as head coach. Milwood-Lee was added to the staff in March of 1998 as an assistant coach. After serving one season as interim head coach, she was named head coach for the 2003-04 campaign. One of Fairleigh Dickinson’s most decorated student-athletes, she was inducted into the FDU Athletics Hall of Fame in 2004.
Milwood-Lee was an 11-time NEC Champion, and was also a two-time recipient of the “Outstanding Performer of the Meet” award given at the Northeast Conference Indoor Championships. She qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships in 1992 and 1993 in the 400-meters, and for the 1993 Outdoor Championships in the same event. Milwood-Lee also helped her 4x400m relay team capture a gold medal at the 1993 U.S. Olympic Festival.
Prior to joining the Knights’ staff, Milwood-Lee served as the Head Cross Country and Track & Field Coach at Bergen Community College in 1997-98. She coached two national qualifiers in the triple jump and long jump. She also served as an assistant with the Montclair State University Indoor Track & Field team during the 1997-98 campaign.
Milwood-Lee presently holds FDU records in the indoor 300m (39.43) and 400m (54.60), as well as the 400m (53.05) and 800 m (2:09.81) outdoor. Her 4x400m (3:49.87) and 4x200m (1:43.15) indoor relay teams and her 4x400m (3:43.04) and 4x200m (1:39.19) outdoor relay teams’ records also headline Fairleigh Dickinson’s all-time record list.
The Knights’ veteran coach earned a B.A. in english, with a writing concentration and also received her Master's of Sports Administration. She and her husband, Oswald, reside in Paterson, N.J., with their two children, Olajuwon and Jayla.
