Coach Monique Riddick is in her first season at Fairleigh Dickinson in 2016-17.
Riddick started her track and field career at Montclair State University after competing at Bishop George High School. While at Montclair State, Monique captured numerous NJAC conference titles in shot put, hammer, and discus. In addition to her conference wins, Coach Monique Riddick won Three Division III NCAA National Championships in Shot Put. After a 2-year stint at Montclair, Monique transferred to Indiana University, in Bloomington, Indiana. While at Indiana University and under the guidance of Coach Jermaine Jones, Riddick became a Big Ten champion and an NCAA Two Time Division I All –American in Shot Put, while going to both indoor and outdoor nationals.
After Coach Riddick’s collegiate career came to a close, she decided to peruse an athletic career and professional career with throwing. In recent years Coach Riddick has been ranked 40th in the world for the past three years, placed in the top six at USA Track and Field Indoors Nationals twice, placed Top 15 at USA Track and Field Outdoor Nationals once, and most recently at the 2016 Olympic Trials, placed 13th; one spot away from making the Final.
Outside of her athletic career, Riddick started volunteering four years ago with Monmouth University under the guidance of Abraham Flores and Joe Compagni. During her four-year stay, she has help direct and guide young throwers to many conference top eight finishers, ECAC qualifiers and placers, Regional qualifiers and NCAA National qualifiers. In conjunction with volunteering at Monmouth University, Coach Riddick also worked with a local New Jersey Track Club, Thrower Nation headed by Anthony SanFilippo. While working with the Monmouth throwers and Thrower Nation, Monique earned her Level 1 and Level 2 USA Track and Field Certifications and is working towards her Level 3 certification.
