Leroy Solomon

Leroy Solomon completed his sixth season with the Fairleigh Dickinson track and field program in the 2019-20 campaign.

Solomon and the Knights earned their first women's track and field NEC Championship since 1999 at the 2020 indoor championships. He helped coach All-NEC Performer Madeline Price in the jumps as she took home the gold medal in the long and triple jump at the NEC Championships. Price also won the triple jump gold medal at the Millrose Game and set a PR at the IC4A/ECAC Championships which earned her a bronze medal. Lisa Warfvinge also was coached under Solomon and brought home a pair of bronze medals at the NEC Championships.

Since joining the Knights track and field staff in the 2014-15 campaign, Solomon has helped coach Taeco O'Garro to break the school record in the triple jump for both indoors and outdoors. He has also guided Brenden Perez to win gold medals in the triple jump at the NEC Championships in 2018 and 2019.

Solomon had spent the previous six seasons on the staff at LIU Brooklyn where he coached the jumpers. He helped guide six athletes to earn All-NEC Honors during the 2008-09 season.

Prior to his time with the Blackbirds, Solomon was an assistant coach at both the City College of New York and Lehman College. At both stops, Solomon coached multiple National Champions and All-Americans.

Solomon has also coached athletes on the international level. At the 200 World Junior Championships he coached the Jamaican Silver Medalists in the 4x100 relay. The Yonkers, N.Y., native has also coached several U.S. national and Olympic qualifiers in the 100 and 200m dashes, long jump, triple jump and the heptathlon.

During his colligate career, Solomon was the Division III record holder and a three time All-American in the triple jump. Solomon graduated from CCNY in 1987 with a bachelor's degree in economics and a minor in education.
