Deon Bascom

Deon Bascom enters his sixth season as assistant coach for the indoor and outdoor track teams along with the cross country teams. Bascom brought knowledge to the outdoor team in his first season as a former volunteer coach with Seton Hall University and former student athlete with the Pittsburgh Panthers.

Prior to FDU, Bascom was an All-American in track and field. He competed in the 400m (47.6), 800m (1:48), and the 1500m (3:55) events.He was also team captain at the University of Pittsburgh from 2003-2005.

Bascom still competes in track and field. He competed at the IAAF Indoor World Championships in Spain with a 12th-place finish He also placed eighth at the CAC in Cali, Colombia.

Bascom graduated from Pittsburgh in 2005 with a B.A. in social sciences and a minor in legal studies and is currently pursing his Master's of Sports Administration at FDU. He and his wife, Natalie, and their four-year old Devon and reside in Irvington, N.J.
