FDU Athletics announced the hiring of
Preston Jones, MSA '21, as the department's first-ever Director of Creative Services on July 21.
Jones returns to the banks of the Hackensack after serving as an athletic communications graduate assistant with the Knights from the fall of 2019 until the end of the 2021 spring semester. In his new role, he will steer the department's digital presence including procuring graphic design, video production, NEC Front Row telecasts of home athletic events and generating content for the department's various social media channels.
A former student-athlete, the Alexandria, Va. native was a member of the Ithaca College football team where he played quarterback for three seasons (2016-18) and worked with the Bombers' athletic department as a graphic designer.
Jones serves as the primary athletic media relations contact for women's fencing, men's and women's golf and NEC Front Row/Video.
During his first stint at FDU, Jones oversaw the creative vision for the Knights, helping grow the department's social media platforms through creative content including student-athlete features, highlight videos and promotional posts. He also produced the hour-long FDYS awards in 2020 which celebrated the pandemic-shortened year in Knights athletics.
Jones graduated with a Bachelor's of Science from Ithaca College where he majored in Sports Media in the Roy H. Park School of Communications. He graduated from FDU's School of International Hospitality, Tourism and Sports Management this past May with a Master's of Sports Administration.
