Germaine Fairchild

  • Title
    Assistant Coach
Germaine Fairchild enters her first season as an assistant coach for the Fairleigh Dickinson softball team.

“We are so fortunate to have such a tremendous coach join our staff,” Head Coach Candi Letts said. “Her record will speak for itself; her experience in the Northeast Conference alone will help our preparation for conference play. Germaine's impact in our program will be immediate. Our student-athletes have and will continue to benefit from her knowledge and experience. This is an epic moment for the FDU Softball program."

Fairchild spent 12 years as head coach of the Quinnipiac University softball program from 2001 to 2013. In 2012 Fairchild guided the Bobcats to their second consecutive NEC Tournament championship game. In 2011 the team advanced to the championship, but due to poor weather conditions, the championship game was canceled and second-seeded Sacred Heart was crowned champion based on its 2-0 record in tournament action.

During her time at Quinnipiac, Fairchild built the Bobcats’ program into one of the best in the Northeast, reaching the NEC Tournament finals in the 2003 and 2004 seasons as well. Fairchild led the Bobcats to a total of seven NEC Tournament appearances from 2003-05, 2007 and 2010-2012. The 2003 club also set a program-high with 34 wins.

Also an accomplished player in her own right, Fairchild has played six years of professional softball in the U.S. She's won three championships playing with the nationally renowned Connecticut Brakettes of ASA Women’s Majors and the National Pro Fastpitch League, and won NPF Championships with the NY/NJ Juggernaut in 2004 and with the Washington Glory in 2007. In 2008 Fairchild began the NPF season as a player-assistant coach with the New England Riptide, before taking over as the head coach in late June and leading the Riptide to their fifth straight playoff appearance.

Fairchild is a 1996 graduate of the University of Tulsa, where she earned her bachelor's degree in environmental policy. She earned her master’s degree in kinesiology from Texas Woman's University in 2012, has earned Master Coach Distinction from the National Fastpitch Coaches College and is a USAW Level One Sports Performance Coach.
