Fairleigh Dickinson Athletics announced the addition of Courtney McClain, MS, as an assistant athletic trainer on August 12, 2019.
 
McClain has previously served as an athletic trainer at NJIT along with working for the Jersey Surf Drum and Bugle Corps as well as Premier Sports Medicine. She has earned her LAT and ATC certifications as well as a Master of Science degree in athletic training from Seton Hall. McClain works primarily with the Knights’ volleyball, women’s basketball and softball teams.
 
Shortly before arriving in Hackensack, McClain worked with the Jersey Surf Drum and Bugle Corps as an athletic trainer, treating acute medical conditions as well as implementing a concussion protocol. She also served as an athletic trainer for Premier Sports Medicine for one year prior to FDU.
 
McClain worked on a per diem basis with NJIT for the one year as well, providing game day athletic training coverage as well as managing and treating athletes suffering from injury. As a student trainer, McClain also gained experience working with the training staffs at Rutgers and the Red Bulls Academy soccer club.
 
A graduate of Seton Hall, McClain earned her Master of Science in athletic training in May 2018 after completing her undergraduate degree in social & behavioral sciences also at Seton Hall. She is BOC certified for athletic training and has also attained American Heart Association BLS CPR and AED certifications.
