Fairleigh Dickinson head softball coach Chris Foye has tabbed Ally Vergona as the team's new assistant coach as announced on Friday morning.

Vergona arrives "on the Hackensack" after a successful career as a catcher at Fordham University, which included three Atlantic 10 Conference Championships. The Paramus, New Jersey native has since served as a coach for NJ Heist U18 Gold Softball and assisted at both Emerson High School and Paramus Catholic High School.

"I am extremely excited to add Ally to our staff," Foye said. "She is a local product who had a distinguished career in high school at nearby Immaculate Heart Academy and graduated from Fordham University where she was their starting catcher. Ally is a very knowledgeable, committed and dedicated person who I believe will be a great asset to not only our Softball program but our University and local community as well."

The former Rams catcher began her collegiate career at UNC-Greensboro before transferring to the Bronx and joining the Rams. With Vergona behind the dish, the Rams extended their streak of NCAA Tournament appearances to five and also reached five NCAA Regionals.

"I first want to thank Coach Foye and Mr. Hurlbut for giving me the opportunity to coach at a fantastic academic university with an excellent softball program," said Vergona. "Softball has been a major part of my life since I was eight years old and it has always been a goal of mine to coach at the highest level of collegiate softball.  I am blessed to be able to do this in the area I grew up in, and I am beyond excited to help these student-athletes reach their full potential on the field, in the classroom and in the community."

Vergona graduated from Fordham in 2017 with a B.A. in Communications and New Media and is currently pursuing a Masters of Arts and Teaching in Health and Physical Education at Montclair State University.
