Stacey Recanati, a 1990 graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University, took over as Associate AD for Administration in August of 2017.
Prior to entering the administration ranks, Recanati spent 26 seasons as head coach of the Knights volleyball team amassing 287 career victories. For more than two decades, Recanati has been an integral part of the program, first as an outstanding player and then as a successful coach.
For her accomplishments as a student-athlete at FDU, Recanati was a member of the second induction class (2000) into the Division I Athletics Hall of Fame, the first women’s volleyball player to be inducted. In 2018, she earned a second induction as a member of the 1989 FDU volleyball team.
In her role as Associate Athletic Director, Recanati handles many aspects of the department’s administration including: compiling and submitting reports for the EADA-Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act Report, NLI Membership Commitment, NEC Athletic Department Survey, NCAA Membership Revenue Report, Graduation Rate Report, Graduation Success Rate, NCAA Sports Sponsorship and Demographic Report, SAOF/Academic Enhancement Revenue Distribution Report and NCAA Drug Free Sport .
Recanati also serves as the liaison between coaches and teams in the following University areas: Domestic Admissions, International Admissions, Financial Aid, Residence Life, Enrollment Services and University Private Scholarships. Additional areas of responsibility include assistance with NCAA compliance, sport administration, athletic scholarships, working with residence life on student-athlete housing, and student-athlete meal distribution.
On the sidelines, Recanati's 287 victories are the most by a coach in FDU volleyball history. During Recanati’s tenure, the Knights qualified for the NEC Tournament 16 times and featured four NEC Rookies of the Year and five NEC First Team honorees. In 2006, she was recognized by the New Jersey State Intercollegiate Athletic Association Legends of the Game program.
Recanati had a stellar collegiate career, being named All-NEC for three years. She guided the Knights to a 122-54 record, three NEC titles and a bid to the Women’s Volleyball Invitational Tournament in 1989. Recanati was named NEC Most Valuable Player twice, as a sophomore in 1987 and again as a senior in 1989. Two years after graduating with a bachelor’s degree in business management, she took over the reigns of the program.
As a player at Hackensack High School she was named to the Bergen Record’s All-Decade Volleyball team for the 1980s.
Recanati resides in River Edge, N.J. with her husband Frank and has two children, David and Sarah.
