Marcus Toney-El

Former Seton Hall forward Marcus Toney-El enters his third season as a coach in the FDU men's basketball program.  The 2012-13 campaign will mark his second season as the Knights' Associate Head Coach.

Toney-El's coaching responsibilities will include assisting with player development, recruiting, game preparation, on-court coaching and scouting.

He has four years of experience playing professional basketball, competing in the ABA league, BJ League and NBL.  In 2008, he played in Australia, after competing in Japan in 2006 and 2007, where he was second in the league in scoring.  His professional career began in 2005 in the Dominican Republic.

Toney-El has coached at various high school summer basketball camps and served as the head coach of the Playaz AAU program as well as the Head Coach of Five Star Camp.  He has given guest lectures and held personal training sessions.

"Marcus is a great addition to the staff," said Head Coach Greg Vetrone. "He has a phenomenal ability to teach fundamentals to post and wing players, making him a huge asset in working with the players.  After playing at both Seton Hall Prep and Seton Hall University, he has a great knowledge of the area and will be a big help when recruiting.  He was a great player at Seton Hall and overseas and all of that will translate to make him a great assistant coach for this program."

In his playing career as a Pirate, Toney-El served as team captain twice.  He was a High School All-American in 2000 and a Big East Academic All-Star in 2002.  After playing at Seton Hall Prep, Toney-El was part of the top-ranked recruiting class for Seton Hall University in 2000 and helped guide his team into the post-season in three of the four years that he played.

Toney-El earned his bachelor's degree from Seton Hall in 2004, majoring in Liberal Studies with a Business Management minor.  He currently resides in East Orange, New Jersey.
